coating vs wax
We are FREQUENTLY asked what the difference is between the Proteam Hydro coating and a traditional wax or spray.
Wax is a protective layer that uses wax as the main ingredient. This is perhaps the most well-known form of protection. It is cheap but doesn’t have many advantages.
A spray for the frame usually consists of silicone. It applies a temporary, water-repellent layer to the frame. However, this layer only lasts for a very short period of time. It is easy to apply, but has a limited and very temporary effect.
The Proteam hydrophobic coating is a very different kind of product than wax and adheres deeper and more firmly in the pores of the lacquer, it reacts with the substrate and forms a hard protective layer that is much more durable than wax. Our coating is the first and only developed specifically for bicycles.
